Astonishing: By 2050, solar could meet all the world’s electricity needs using <1% of the world’s land.
I seriously hate that we’re not investing in solar energy in America right now. Obviously not everywhere could use solar energy as a primary source of energy, but enough of the country has exposure to sun that it would be totally viable. States like Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, they all have lots of exposure to sun while having vast spans of unused land. The sun will be with us for at least thousands of years, it cannot be said the same for fossil fuels. Let us take advantage of an abundant resource, while weaning ourselves off of fossil fuels, and creating an energy system that is truly self-sustaining.
Slightly Ridiculous
